I'm in the market for a new digital camera. With so many choices out, what's a decent one these days?

I like the idea of WiFi for ease of transfer to several different computers.

Image stabilization for unsteady hands cause of some users are older.

Good up-close (Macro) shots would be ideal. Zoom not needed as most shots would be within 30yrs likely.

Rugged too as this will likely sit in a glove box most of the time. So likely a pocket type camera is needed.

Thanks

I have a panasonic lumix dmc-zs25 that works pretty well. Doesn't have wifi, but there is a similar model that does. this one has 20x optical zoom.

not sure how rugged it is. I've had it my pockets, loose in the car, on the porch, etc and it's holding up. I'm not real rough with it but not babying it either.

1 thing i don't like is that it uses a proprietary charge/data cable.

I agree, there are a ton out there and hard to decide what to buy.

Not sure what your'e asking for here.

I know a lot of cameras that have WiFi go along with a program on your smartphone.

I have an EyeFI SD memory card that acts like a wifi hotspot that can also upload to my home network if I want - but it doesn't "transfer to several different computers." It sends to one. If they "several" computers were all linked on a network and the computer you send to shares the folder the photos get uploaded to, it might do what you want.

So, you could separate your need for WiFi out of the equation and rely on an EyeFi card to handle that.

Clarification if I may. I will need several of these as different people will be using them. The computers are networked yes but not sure how that will work, need to touch base with the IT people to see what is needed for that. I'll check out the panasonic lumix line and see what they have to offer, thanks.

The Olympus E-PM2 was on sale for $200 a few months ago, which IMHO would be one of the best options in that price range. Unfortunately, they're back up to ~$400 now. :(
