I have the Motorola SB5120 since about one year now and didn't have any problems with it until last week, when suddenly the mbps rate dropped to 20 ..
i called comcast under(800)266-2278 but they couldn't help me much, so now i'm considering either a change to the zoom 5350 modem, or a change to another internet provider.
what is a man without fast internet...

next time just start your own thread. SB5120 is a DOCSIS 2.0 modem....what have you tried for troubleshooting?

-Have you fully power cycled the modem? (all cables unplugged for at least a minute)

it's about time for a modem upgrade anyways. If you're leasing, bring that modem to your local Comcast and ask for a DOCSIS 3.0 modem (not a modem + router combo)

If you are not leasing, get yourself a SB6120 or SB6121, both can be hand for under $100.

Keep in mind that during peak times, fluctuations in speeds are expected

.. about the upgrade, sometimes i don't get the connection to the modem and sometimes when i do, it kicks me out again after a few minutes.
but that has been the case with all the modems i had..

Describe your issue a bit more in details. "i don't get the connection to the modem?"

Do you have a router installed? or direct connected to a PC?

If you have a router, remove it from the equation.

What are the lights on the modem indicating while having the issue?

Hello,

Could you please let me know if there is a cable modem with the following specs:

- Docsis 3
- Gigabit ports
- Wifi
- USB 3 port (for shared HD etc)

I found one Netgear C3000 & C3700 but it has USB2 ports.

Thank you, greatly appreciate it.

Sal
