hey pookguy88

I know this is not exactly what you wanted, since this is not free, but I found
that Metroworks Code Worrier LE is a good beginners compiler. This is the one
my school uses to teach the computer science I and II classes with. Plus Code Worrier LE
is very user friendly which is a big plus for beginners.

<< has anyone else had problems with dev-c++ and the apstring class (one of the classes from the AP collection)? i cannot compile anything correctly using the apstring class...and i don't know whether it is dev-c++ because i have no other compilers. this is aggrevating. please reply if you have any idea what i'm talking about and could offer some help >>

Go to http://community.borland.com/ , register (free) and download the (also free) Borland 5.5 compiler (commandline tools). If this compiler gives the same error, it's you who's doing something wrong :)
