V. 1.0.3 Really crapped out on me. None of my extensions updated properly, When I close the main FF window I have to close it using task manager before I can open a new FF window (Like if I closed it, when i tried to open a window it wouldnt load).. The history wouldnt load 1/2 of the time, and also I cant POST on anandtech any more as new windows wont open.....

I said goodbye to it, this is an ATOT topic. 😉
It's fairly easy to spot a technical cry for help when running across one.

rh71 certainly caught it.

My pop-up windows stopped working this week as well with 1.0.3. I just unistalled Firefox completely (profiles and all) and started from scratch. Not sure what happened, but it works like a champ now.

Had problems using firefox, too. So, I just uninstalled all the extensions I installed over the past two days, reinstalled them and all is fine now.

🙂

Whatever. A browser shouldn't need this much tweeking to the point where there is this much room for user error if the user is not a complete idiot.

Funny, I'm not having any sort of problems with IE.... however some problems are occuring now that I uninstalled Google Web Accelerator... :|

IE also cant do what firefox can.

I notice firefox.exe remaining in my task manager long after I've shut the browser down, and it usually is taking up ~100MB
kinda pisses me off...but I wouldn't abandon my ForcastFox extension over it

IE does what I want it to do and does it quickly and efficiently. All the other crap Firefox tries to do is useless and wouldn't benefit me anyway.

While I wouldn't call the extensions FF allows "crap"... I do have to agree that Microsoft is best when it comes to usability. It simply works as intended. (And we all know now every software has exploits).

If Windows needed the memory, it would end the task. I wouldn't worry about it.

Very true. Also, extensions are great and everything for people who need them, but I don't need them and therefore I see Firefox as more bloatware than anything. Especially seeing all the problems people have when the amount of extensions they have loaded increases. I also like not having to worry about new versions and updates. Not to mention an out-of-the-package Firefox still loads itself and webpages slower than IE (for me).

Guess it doesn't matter that I haven't had any sort of virus since 1998, and my first spyware scan in 5 months only returned 11 objects?
