Good Bye Albertsons

Albertsons is still in business here but I never go there. They are way too expensive. If I want to spend more than walmart prices I'd rather go to Publix.

They closed a few stores in our area.

SE 82nd & Holgate - closed
NE 122nd - closed

Expect more to close as they compete with the other Supervalu stores owned in the area.

With that being said the last time I went to the one in Tigard I vowed not to go back to that location, selection wasn't great, prices were higher and the staff was rude.

I believe in Austin all Alberton's closed, leaving HEB and Randalls being the bigger names around.

the only thing I don't understand about most of these grocery stores is the free value cards, why not just give people the savings without making them either type in their phone number, or carry a card around.

Our Albertsons will probably close down too eventually. We have 3-4 Super Wal-Marts, 4 Brookshires, and a Super Target.
Poor Albertsons cannot compete.

Albertsons used to be my main grocery company until they started using those cards.

Same here, except they were replaced with Baker's (which is owned by Kroger now) and No Frills.

Albertsons has been pushed out of the market by:

HEB/Central Market
Tom Thumb/Randalls
Kroger
Wal-Mart: Neighborhood Market

They just couldn't compete for their share of the market.

There is still at least one: 183 and McNeil/SpicewoodSprings.

Good riddance, though. Albertsons is usually way overpriced.

Its like a natural foods grocery store. They do have good prices on some stuff though..

Huh. My local Albertsons has always been one of my favorites. Not the best store by any means, certainly not for produce, but they have the lowest prices in the neighborhood, friendly service, and a great meat dept.

I found Albertsons to be the best priced wherever I lived also, not as great as the fancy grocery stores, but all around a good store, especially during the days of rising milk costs. They kept their prices down.

I'm pretty sure Meijer > *. I feel bad for everyone who is not in the midwest. Meijer is an awesome store, not to mention a pretty good company, compared to most. (Honest) I'm pretty sure Michigan is the one state that Walmart semi-struggles in, almost everyone hates walmart here and would much prefer to go to Meijer.
