I've driven the new Golf and it's a damn nice car. This is coming from someone who used to be almost anti-VW. You can't really compare VW to Honda, they're totally different.

Sounds like you'll be very happy with your purchase. You're also in a much better position; you're paying less money for a purchase instead of more money for a lease. At least you can sell it.

I wouldn't say that you took a step down at all. Maybe it's a disadvantage that it's FWD, but it is definitely a sweet ride, handles great and the interior is niiiiiice.

And you get get some serious performance upgrades fairly easily. The difference between stock and Stage 1 or 2 ECU is amazing

both, the 167 horses were actually planty for this car. Did not care for the seats or the torque steer in the speed 3.

Torque steer happen when you actually have some power.
