Get Gigabyte x58 motherboard. Get G.skill 6gb DDR3 1600 mhz one for $104.99. Get 4850x2. Get Corsair TX 650 (made by Seasonic. 750TX is made by some other company). Get samsung SATA DVD burner.
also, i would consider getting bigger case (vid card is huge)
you're set.

gigabyte mobo is overrated. the ram is fine, and i want ones that match to memory specs of the board bud. im not OCing, and for my resoloution the 1gb 4870 is better.

I just bought the MSI board and the 920 and like both. I chose the RC 590 case and have no regrets either. i went with the 650 PSU based on the reviews as well.

And the Mobo comes with 4 SATA cables with clips so unless you need extra you can remove those.

Can you guys tell me how you like the board? The price is very nice but what about the build quality as well as the drivers?

I have no problems with the board. Decent layout, no problems out of the box. This is my second MSI board and like the last one I expect to get several years out of it. All of the drivers worked fine on Vista 64.

I went with a cheap card as I don't game. Only photo editing and web surfing.

It does the trick for me, but probably not good enough for most.

The gigabyte board is not overrated, and if your not overclocking then it really doesn't matter either way. Gigabyte's UD3R x58 board is gonna be pretty similar (no sli), likely a bit better than the MSI, for roughly the same price. Your response above leads me to believe you know a bit about what your doing with computers, so I have to ask why aren't you overclocking? Is this rig for your parents?

I don't overclock either. I don't see the point of it really. I have plenty of performance, you actually save money not doing it, less heat, I don't void my warranty, longer lifespan, and you don't get a headache. I never stop using my computers. I have one from 1997 with it's original hardware still working fine.

I can agree with less heat and warrenty staying intact, but I'd beg to differ about the headaches and lifespan issues. I've never had a processor die on me, and I still use an athlon 3000+ overclocked that's pretty old, and a e4300 @3.15 that's been overclocked balls to the wall since it was new, 24/7. I'd say the durability of the processors are good enough that overclocking moderately (or a bit more) isn't a major issue. I wish I had a better example of some ancient computer I still have running 24/7, but honestly after five years or so there isn't much point.

I've never had any troubles with overclocking either, and I've experienced every other computer problem imagineable. As for having plenty of performance, I guess that's relative. My brother can play games at 20 fps and think its smooth, while I prefer at least 50. I wouldn't really be satisfied with a c2q @ 2.83, but I'm sure he would. Heck, I was happy with goldeneye 64 running at 15 fps half the time in 4 player, tried playing it recently and it was unplayable. It's all relative.
