Hmm. try and get pc4400 🙂
Along with an x800xl unless you like opengl games more.

That's all I have to say... 🙂 G.skill! Oh well.
its still good either way.

I like your PSU 🙂

have you ordered these parts or still deciding?

very good.

its rather overpriced, but still good. the power supply costs a bit much, although it is worth it if you want something near silent.

the RAM is definately overpriced, you could get cheaper Corsair XMS. if not that, you could save $80 by getting Corsair valueselect or cheap Crucial.

put that $80 to get a 3700 San diego or 7800GT.

He would have to buy crucial if he was going to buy cheaper. DFI + Corsair = bad.

true. there are cheaper OCZ models out there. he could save $80 and get the value ram.

that way, he won't feel too guilty about replacing them when he wants to upgrade to 2gb. also put that $80 to get a better cpu or vid card 😀

hmm, i thought i could only use DDR 400 (PC 3200) with that mobo

😕

why get such expensive memory? not worth it

you could buy DDR500 for example, but it would just run at DDR400 or 200mhz.

but with DDR500 you could possibly overclock the ram to greater levels.

not worth it

Same card for -100$?

that is the vanilla 6800.

the 6800GT is faster and more expensive

OK so i'm looking at the 7800GTs and there is like 36 diffrent ones here with diffrent prices.

I am noob and I can't really tell the diffrence on any of them, can anyone enlighten me?

get this one link

its a overclocked 7800GT with a lifetime warranty and it includes a free evga sli motherboard.

so lets calculate

dfi lanparty - 135
evga geforce 6800gt - 309

= 444

evga sli nf4 - free
evga geforce 7800gt - 449

= 449

now you tell me, which one is better?

I dunno, the reviews don't look as hot on the mobo

"If I would have had to purchase this motherboard, I would be dissappointed. The full-screen logo at boot can NOT be disabled, so you can't see POST at all. Also, there seems to be no way to monitor the temperatures outside of the BIOS. I looked around on the eVGA forums and others have these same problems. The diagnostic LED on the board helps when you are troubleshooting. Overall this is an average board for the price, given the limited features and the inanility to monitor CPU and board temps in Windows. I assume if eVGA released a BIOS revision, many problems will be fixed, but who knows when that will happen."

"The manual leaves much to be desired, very thin compared to the ABit, ASUS, and Gigabyte boards I have used before. Also lacks info on cmos setup ect. Took a little guess work to make sure I set everything up right. The chipset fan is a little loud also, but the video card is in the way to change the heatsink or fan."

Plus - Does it have the same awesome OCing potential that poeple say the DFI board does?

My recommendations:

Ditch the 3200+ and go with the 3000+. The LanParty won't hold you back and odds are you'll overclock just as high with the 3000+ as the 3200+.

Try and get enough for a 7800GT. They're a newer generation and wipe the floor with the 6x00 cards in most games.

Low-latency RAM is the last place you should be spending money. Read Zebo's guide. Go with OCZ Value, or at most Value VX.

The PSU is a little pricey. You could find an Enermax or Fortron for less, and those are also top-notch PSUs.

The eVGA one is the same board, just rebranded as eVGA instead of Jetway. Definitely get that and the 7800GT instead. Switch the CPU out for a 3000+ and overclock, and get cheaper value RAM. Premium RAM definitely isn't worth it.
