im currently using the official BT client and it is really sucking bandwidth. I need something that allows me to throttle bandwidth. What is best?

There's a search function :)

And you will find a zillion threads asking the same question.

The answer you will find is Azureus.

Does anyone here know roughly how much RAM Azureus consumes? I'm using BitComet right now and I'm pretty happy with it, however it strikes me as a bit hefty for a C++ implementation (3 torrents = ~45 MB RAM used).

Wow, really? Oh wait, that doesn't include java (about 30 MB IIRC). How's CPU utilization? BitComet is pretty much at 0 now (minimized to system tray), although RAM usage has jumped to ~60MB for my 3 torrents :Q!

Java doesn't take that much RAM. In average, it takes ~ 8MB.

Thanks for pointing me to bitcomet, giving it a try now.

Your higher memory usage is probably bitcomet's disk cache. It uses 8-50 MB or RAM as a bitcomet disk cache. You can adjust it in the advanced->disk cache settings. Of course, I may be wrong, I just read the site and just started using it, but disk cache is my guess.

I'm using Azureus 2.1.0.4 /w Java 1.5.0 beta 2 on a P4 1.6 Williamette /w 1GB RAM. Azureus.exe takes ~2M and 0% CPU. Javaw.exe takes about 50M with 2 torrents at ~0-3% CPU. I am using the Safepeer plug-in.

Azureus always screwed my system up for some weird reason. After I would close it I couldn't restart my PC through the start button... I also don't think it would let me CTRL ALT DELETE either. I never under stodd why it did that I never hear anyone complain about that except 1 friend of mine who had the same problem... hmm I donno it might be fine now as this was a couple releases ago I would guess. :shrug;

I've been using torrentstorm for some time but i think it hogs too much resources and bandwidth
If i switch to BitTornado or Azureur would I be able to flawlessly import my torrents or should I finish this batch and then switch over?

edit: can I use them both at the same time?
