I'm not much of a hard acohol drinker - my tastes tend to gravitate towards high octane beer. ButI've recently had two bourbon based cocktails - a manhattan and a mint julep, and I plan to have more. I didn't really like the sweet vermouth/bourbon combination in the manhattan (maybe it was just badly made; I had it in a not so great bar).On the other hand, the mint julep was wonderful - the mint, bourbon and sugar came together perfectly.

Now, tommorow I'm going out with my friend for her 21'st birthday to a nice bar, and I was wondering if people on ATOT have any recommendations for other cocktails for me - a sazerac perhaps?

FYI, the bourbon in the manhattan was Maker's Mark, and in the Mint julep was WL Weller.

Thanks!

Fixed it for you.

I only added it because he is obviously a beginner.

I'm in the mood for a bourbon old fashioned every now and then, but it's not often that I'll be at a bar that can make a decent one.

Booker's 7 yr is good without ice, alone.

Woodford Reserve also, no ice, alone.

Makers Mark, with a splash of cocacola and some ice.

Makers Mark Mint Julep is nice too.

Manhattan?

Bourbon + Sweet vermouth + bitters

I usually put about 2 shots of bourbon, 1/2 to 1 shot of vermouth, and about 3 dashes of bitters.

edit: dont forget the cherry

edit2: didnt read op. Dont have much else for you... I usually just drink it neat.
