I was going to post this in one of the tech threads, but if you ask me, it's activity specific.

I went the longest time without running with music, but now that I'm back to running 4-5 days a week, I'm looking for some behind the neck style headphones that rest over the ear. I own these 3 sets, but they all have problems....the first set is probably the best:

These work great, but the headphones are 3 years old. The band between the headphones has actual hinges, so there's room there for eventual wire breakage. Sound quality and battery life are great, but they aren't weather proof....biggest issue is that they are a little bigger than newer models, so I look like Princess Leia when I wear them.

I got these recently and the sound quality is solid. They have fewer buttons than the first set, but the sound is clear and I use these at the gym all the time. My only issue is that when I place my phone in my pocket or in a running belt, the Bluetooth reception fails and the sound cuts out frequently. My phone case is an Otterbox, so I partially blame it, but I don't have this issue with the Kinivos...

Sound quality is terrible. It's like they used a tweeter speaker for the speakers. There's zero bass and the sound is awful. I can still use them though as a backup, so I kept them instead of returning them. My reasoning is that I only need them to be good enough.

I seriously am avoiding ear buds because they fall out or I'd have more selection.
Anyone got any reviews of some headphones in that price range?

I know you said over ear but I got these Mpow Swift earbuds for $16 and was able to use them for jump-roping and lifting without issue. The sound seems good enough but I think you are more discerning than I am.

I've got the same ones. For under $20 I can't complain. Sound is pretty good and they *mostly* stay put. On a 5 mile run I may have to adjust them once or twice to get them firmly back in my ear. But I've never had them completely fall out.

If you heard how bad the sound was out of the Coulax headphones, you'd understand what I meant. I've heard good things about Mpow, but was looking more at the Cheetahs than the Swifts: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2079475242&pf_rd_i=desktop

I just didn't pull the trigger because I keep reading more mixed reviews and the prices were over $25 before Christmas when I bought my last pair. I am going to purchase another pair next month when I start running outdoors more. I don't think I can take having the sound cut out and back in constantly.

The crazy thing is that there's like 500 different brand versions of basically the same set of headphones. Same thing with the behind the head setup, except there might only be 50 models of the same exact set with them. :p

It's just down to aesthetics and maybe some marginal build quality between them. But at the guts of it...same exact headphones just with a different colored/shaped shell.

I still think these are the best overall. you can find them rebranded for mid teens. even if they fail after 3 yrs you get your money's worth out of them. I buy a pair or two a yr. My issue with them is that they start to stink if you sweat in them a lot.
