good benchmarking on cpu ONLY

All of the 3dmock and PCmock crap are just that crap...synthetic benches that ppl try to use to compare and they are not good for that....These programs are good for comparing your own tweaking and ocing results...

I would suggest actually run gaming demos if you are into that , or run some real app test for yourself...If you are just interested in getting scores to compare and brag that is pretty much a nice waste of a PC...

SuperPi is a nice cpu bench a lot of ppl are using......

well i would do game benchmarking like ut2004, far cry, and hl2 but i dont even know how to initiate a benchmarking thing in their game...any1 else know how to do it like run a loop with average fps or something?? what other games are top notch for the latest technology???

For UT2004, make sure you have the latest patch installed. Then, go into your UT2004\System directory and run Benchmark.exe.

For Farcry, it doesn't come with it's own benchmarking utility, but you can download one here: http://www.hardwareoc.hu/index.php/p/news/cid/3/y/5851.html

For Half-Life 2, you can record a demo and play it back with the command 'timedemo demoname' and it will give you benchmarking stats at the end of the run. There is also a HL2 benchmarking utility you can download here: http://www.hardwareoc.hu/index.php/p/news/cid/7/y/6994.html

wow thanks!!! thats exactly what i was looking for! i knew there was a way to do it since benchmarkers like tomshardware and anandtech do it all the time! thanks bro! no i just have to go to a friends house with dsl to download those stuff u put up...thanks!

For Doom 3, open up the console, (Ctrl+Alt+~) then type "timedemo demo1" (w/out quotes). If you run "timedemo demo1 1" it will use precaching, which will be closer to how your regular game performance is.
