When are these chips/motherboards due out?

Llano will be launched by 14th June most probably and it will soon be available afterwards. Exact date of retail availability is unknown but should be within the month or the month afterwards in a worst case scenario.

I'm waiting my self, keep getting the itch to upgrade my aging e8400, but I'm going to wait for BD to see what my options are at the time. I REALLY want an 8core monster.

if its just for email, surfs the web, MS Office, and watches videos/movies (1080p?).

Even an ATOM setup would be king, and some of them are small enough to fit inside your backpack even.

Well it would depend on the 1080, and what type of format the 1080 is.

This. Except, get a Zacate E-350 mini-ITX rig, instead of an Atom.

The Zacate rocks everyday computing. And plays back 1080P off of YouTube very well.
Best of all? 31-45W, total, for the entire rig!

(Sure, it won't play Crysis, but it can play L4D.)
