Good backup manager?

I'm fairly religious about backups, and try to update them regularly. The problem is that I have so much "stuff" that I have a hard time finding places for it.

What I have been doing so far is periodic full backups of all my stuff, and then erasing them and redoing them every once in a while. In the meantime I do backups of specific folders I am working on. It's all rather disorganized. And I don't end up keeping historical copies of files that change regularly.

What I would like is a reliable software tool that will create a full backup of all of my files on a specific date, and then allow me to do incrementals. This will not only cut down on the huge backup repetitions, but allow me to keep older versions of files in case I mess something up royally.

I am sure there are lots of programs that can do this, but I'd value some recommendations from you folks. Thanks!
