I currently have a Roku 3, and I'm a bit disappointed with the number of games coming out for it. I also hate entering text, because they have the letters arranged as a line, instead of a grid, which would be MUCH faster.

I've recently started seeing Android set top boxes with bluetooth support for about $55 shipped.

The 4 things I'd like to do with a set top box are:

1) perhaps play MAME arcade games from about 1980-1995
2) It would need to support a decent wired or wireless gamepad
3) play some streaming and local video (xbmc?)
4) once in a while, either Steam or Android games

I was looking at the MXQ S85 Amlogic S805 Quad-Core Multimedia Android 4.4.2 TV Box. It has a quad core Cortex A5 cpu running at 1.5 GHz and 1 GB system RAM.

Would this be able to do any of the above? Thanks for any help!

I don't think it can do Steam games. But it could do Android games.

There are a lot of videos of people using ARM set top box's in that manner.

Why not try the FireTV? That's probably your best bet at a stable Android set top box ecosystem.

I do all that except the Android game part with a Chromebox. I also think a Fire TV would work well, they keep going on sale off and on.

You ever heard of an Ouya?? They are a super cheap Micro Console and comes with a touch pad controller pretty much like a ps4 controller and it can emulate everything you are wanting plus you can watch any format of video using vlc.It has some pretty good games from there online store. If you dont like what they offer you can install Google play and Amazon app store.Thats what I have and there are some pretty fun games from all those vendors. The only Emulation I do is Neo Geo and original famicom games of which I own real versions of.I have tried other various Emulators as well such as PJ64,ppsspp,psxe which all worked very well to.
