I also read 'Battlefield Earth' many years ago. It is long and it drags a bit in the middle but overall it's a pretty good EOTW sci-fi book.

Autumn Series by David Moody Zombie series and looks like its getting made into a movie. Was available for free download for a long time so you should be able to find a copy.

Dies the Fire by S M Stirling All modern crap combustion, electricy, etc just quits working for some unknown reason and every body goes apeshit. These started off ok and I'll probably finish them but its drawn out way more then it needs to be.

Wolf and Iron by Gordon Dickson This one takes place awhile after the collapse of the modern world. Just some dude traveling around with a wolf.

Dark Advent by Brian Hodge End by plague. Can't remember this one at all but I liked it.

The Taking by Dean Koontz

Lucifer's Hammer by Nevil and Pournelle Comet hits the planet and fun is had all around. Great book.

Dying to Live by Kim Paffernroth Just read this one. Another zombie book and as far as zombie books go it was alright.

Mister Touch by Malcolm Bosse Another virus one thats pretty decent.

This man knows what he speaks of.

Lucifer's Hammer is great.

This thread has a lot of Win. Things like WWZ, DBDA, The Road, etc....all brilliant.

I am sure any I mention have already been, but there is a new Post-Apoc movie coming out in the Fall called The Road starring none other than Aragon (Viggo Mortesen).


EDIT: After actually seeing all the Posts, I wonder if any of you "The Road" fans knew it was coming out.

Another vote for The Stand, it's an awesome book. Get the uncut edition, it fleshes out the characters better, and makes for better reading. I first read it in 8th grade, and I blew through 400 pages in about four hours one afternoon... awesome.

Just finished Patriots: A Novel of Survival in the Coming Collapse...... Really good read, and has a lot of good, useful info. I really enjoyed the way the author wrapped the details of planning up into a story, and it was an awesome story at that.

The Descent - Jeff Long
It isn't really apocalyptic, but how we discover a vast underground complex under the earth and species of "people" down there and well, you know what happens when people encounter something new and different. Gotta take over it.

The Road was ok, and I found some philosophical ties along with images of christ and the church, but I didn't think the book was all too good. It was a good read and kept me into it, but perhaps my expectations were too high coming in. I'd still recommend it, but I don't see the basis for all the acclaim it gets.
