My PSU Fan is very quiet but hardly shifts any air and the PSU seems to get quite hot and warms up the top part of the case, I was thinking about replacing it with a better 80mm fan....what are good ones for doing this, are there any that come with the two pin connector that I have seen PSU's use (if not or if mine is soldered I will run it out to a motherboard connector).

BTW am in UK, Cheers.

Vantec Stealths work great. Don't consider Zalman 80mm ones in silent mode. They definately won't push enough air out.

I've tried both of the above for the record :)

I've replaced the fans in 2 of my PSUs with Panaflos. They push a decent amount of air for the (little) noise they make. I've always had to cut the existing fan wires off and solder the Panaflo tails to them. No biggie.

I would get some adjustable fans with a potentiometer built into it and just drill a small hole in the back of the PSU and stick the potentiometer knob through it. I'd go with Enermax whisper fans or even Thermaltake Smartfan 2, cut the connector off and solder onto the existing wire harness, just leave the 3rd RPM sensor wire off and you're good to go.

i've heard that the smart fans don't sound as quiet as panaflos at the same low speed. people mostly buy em for their high end speed potential.

just get panaflos or vantecs and stick the wires through a crack into the case for power.

do NOT touch the big capacitors. they will f*ck you up.

the speedfan app will most likely work as well. basically it lets you vary the voltage to fans you're running off the MB. Much cleaner and less dangerous way to vary voltage.

Panaflo LIA is supposed to be good. I'm using a pabst 12db, but it's way more expensive than the panaflo and has a bit less airflow.
