good ad blocking software?

Is there any good ad blocking software that prevents ad's from being displayed on various web pages, without blocking relevant content? Also can it go as far as blocking ad-related pop up's, and ad's that are in other software programs beside the web browser?

I use AdBlock. It's free and works really well. I completely forget that I'm using it until I use someone else computer and realise how good it is.

It blocks pretty much everything but some youtube ads.

Similar, though I updated my router dns server so it handles all devices on my network. This helps a lot for phone/tablets that do not have an adblock equivalent.

Use Firefox and AdBlock Plus.

AdBlock Plus for chrome isn't nearly as good. But it's a choice, if you like that...... browser...

If you are on android, you can install Adaway.

Adblock. Free and it works great. Why use anything else?

Because a rock is free and it works as a bed, and you don't use it to sleep.

That said, AdBlock Plus is very solid, very powerful and very safe. And free.

Not by itself, though it does block known phishing sites and the like. But you can add to the blacklist:
