and when u say acoustic i assume u would want me to leave out the speed metal of acoustic music ---> flamenco...

1. What Its Like - Everlast ( A Rip Off of a def leppard song IMHO)

There's an acoustic version of Everlong by Foo Fighters out there that is awesome, and no it's not that recording from the howard stone show. It's a much better one.

edit: i mean howard stern show. brain fart

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds - Live at Luther College was all acoustic and is arguably the best dmb album out. Some of the songs are amazing, like Stream. That whole cd is awesome. I also agree with whoever said John Mayer acoustic. Can't go wrong with either of those.

Metallica has some good acoustic songs:
Low Man's Lyric
Last Caress (Misfits cover)
4 Horsemen
Motorbreath
Tuesday's gone (Skynyrd cover)

Note: Low Man's Lyric is the only acoustic to appear on an album. The other three are bootlegs, but I'm sure you can find them on Kazaa or what not.

I agree that Noel Gallagher of Oasis has written some good acoustic and ballad-type songs. A lot of the good ones are on the Masterplan album. Two in particular are Talk Tonight (about a fan who talked Noel down from jumping off a roof) and Half the World Away. (Also Going Nowhere)

Dashboard Confessional is getting popular lately, and the newest album is all acoustic guitar/bass/drums. My favorite tracks are Screaming Infidelities and Again I Go Unnoticed. Good melodies, good lead voice, the lyrics make me cringe though.

ill second the dashboard confessional vote. If you looking into playing the songs though, just a tip. He only uses standard tuning on 3 of the songs (the ones from his first album). All the rest are 1. either in 1/2 step down, 2. Open D tuning, 3. Drop D flat, rest half step down.

I know almost ever single Dashboard song by memory (for the ladies of course, who fall into my lap when im playing them), so feel free to give me a PM if u want help with one.

Another good acoustic is although im not a big Dave mathews fan, i highly reccommend the acouistic live version of DMB - #41. If you can play the full song (including solo) ill be impressed as hell.
