Good >$600 build?

Unless "some time before February" means in the next two weeks, there's no reason to fill out a specific wish list. Prices and specials change week to week, and your final build will almost certainly be different than that one in a few places.

If you need to put a list together to give people Christmas ideas I understand, but ideally you'd be building the machine within 30 days of the purchase of the parts.
 
You might also check the For Sale/Trade forum for deals over the next few weeks.

I'm hungry for the C2D deals from i7 upgraders! :laugh:

I find CM's to be built well. Theirs no problem with that case in his checklist
 
from your list here is what i would change -

4850 - pick one up from ebay from a place like zipzoomfly's ebay store and get the 30% discount through ms cash, possibly get more from them and get the $$$ 🙂

e8400 - good cpu but not necessary for what you are doing. hell, i am running a e2160 @ 3GHz and the only time it is lacking is when i am doing some rendering, other than that it is more than enough for games and stuff. for ~1/2 the cost, you may want to look at some of the lower end e4xxx series too.

you also may want to quantify gaming a bit.
 
I wouldn't trust an Apevia PSU for your PC. Check Hot Deals until you find a sale on a good PSU or Case w/ PSU. It seems like a decent one is on sale every other week.

Or you can get this Antec Sonata III case with a 500W Earthwatts PSU
 
I'm sort of editing along the day.

My plan for buying is to look for deals on the stuff so that by February I can play Empire: Total War on it.

if you aren't going to build within the next 15-30days, this post is a waste - so many things change on nearly a weekly basis....
