good 3g/4g tablet?

Basically what I am needing is a device (tablet?) that is 3g/4g to surf for information while at work.
This would just be used for work related information searches as well as looking up addresses that I need to find.
I do service work for the state and need to respond to calls within an hour so having a device that would do that would be very useful.
I also need to look up information regarding parts for appliances, furnaces, water heaters, etc...

Oh, I don't have a "smart phone" and don't want to commit to some 2 year/million dollar contract just to receive a nice smart phone.
I ultimately just want to "tether" the device to my existing cell phone. My current cell phone is a Straight Talk so I don't know if that is even possible. :\

since you are on StraightTalk (prepaid), you can just buy a smartphone outright and use it...

On a budget, the Moto G LTE is pretty good and future-proof($219 for LTE, $179 for non-LTE), or a Lumia 520/521 for under $60, but Windows phone

Straight Talk doesn't allow tether though....


you could get a T_mobille-compatible tablet... t-mobile offers 200MB for free to anyone with a compatible cellular tablet(you get cut off completely after 200MB)

you could also make do with a wifi-only tablet/device, and use one of these "free" hotspots. *free= because people have had bad experiences with them, and charging extra fees

Honestly forget the tablet and get yourself a smartphone. A Nexus 5 would be your high end for around $350, a Moto X is your mid range around $300, or a Moto G on the low end for around $200.

Those are all without contract, and should work with Straight Talk.

Thanks guys! Hmm, its looking more like I just need to buy a good smart phone.......Although, I see that if a person grabs a Sprint phone, he or she can get this deal at $33 per month for unlimited calls, texts, and 2gigs per month data:

Sprint phones, basically the only decent inexpensive phone would be the nexus 5 or moto G. no moto G LTE. it's a lot more restricted than GSM phones (on AT&T/T-mobile/their MVNOs like Straighttalk)
