Is 3D Studio hard to use? Take alot of time to understand all its functions? seems a bit intimidating

There's just a lot to know. Once you figure out how everything works, then you have to learn what's the best way to go about making something. There are just so many different techniques it's not funny.

Here's a little something I did up in 3dmax. Everything is from scratch.

dude, that pic is awesome..good job on it:)

When ever I right click in 3D Studio Max to get the options menu, nothing shows up.. Any suggestions?

I think it may have to do with the video drivers im using.. ATI's Catalyst 3.1? Im too lazy to upgrade to 3.2 though..

Everyone knows that Rhino3D is the best 3D modeling program. It can't texture or render for shat, but it's an amazing modeler.

it only took me two hours to model this on sunday night

That's not that complex at all. Just a bunch of primitive shapes and splines. Does Rhino do NURBS/NURMS?

nah it wasn't complex. that's why it only took two hours. But yeah, rhino is an amazing NURBS modeler, and it's incredibly accurate. It was the first modeling program I ever learned.

check out Rhino3D.com

this is something i made about 3 years ago.. I lost the actual model in a computer crash, which pissed me off to no end and it kind of turned me away from modeling for a while.

I've seen some amazing renders done by architects/3d modellers who model their scenes in their CAD programs, and then do up a render for fun by putting the scene into maya. They turn out great.

Yup. Lightwave has pretty much everything you need right out of the box. Here are some pics(actually that one of the meatcleaver was done in AutoCad) of a few models I did in lightwave. Another good modeler is Nendo ($99) you can download a free demo from thier website. Nendo is pretty much a dummied down version of Mirai's modeler, which can be quite impressive. Check out this time lapse video of Bay Raitt modelling a humanoid in Mirai (more here). If you like Nendo, but dont want to pay the $99 you can get Wings3D, which is a freeware clone of the Nendo/Mirai modeler (and is pretty good too!).

Damn, that guy is good. I've sort of seen things like that before, but not with that much detail.

Yeah, I've tried to model like that in Nendo, and I cant even come close:( Honestly I think I've watched that video 200+ times (in slow motion:Q) trying to learn box modeling from it.

I did a quick box model of a duck that turned out alright. I spent about 5 minutes on it and just extruded and bevelled one face until I had a rough poly mesh of the body and neck/head. Applied a meshsmooth and it looked great, but that's a far cry away from a human.
