Good 1gig RAM sticks

I am building a new system and want to use 2x 1gig ram sticks for it... but I don't know what ones to get. It doesnt need to be mega overclockable.

What is the new system going to use for ram? DDR or DDR2? And what speed do you want?

If you're doing DDR1, Patriot makes some good low-latency DDR400 1GB sticks.
