Good 19" lcd for dvd movies?

I need to get a 19" lcd for a students apartment. Computer will be an entertainment thing also. Gaming not an issue. Usually shop at ncix - they have a good selecion of samsung and benq and a few other odds and ends.

Looking for wide viewing angle etc. Any ideas??? I am at a loss here - as the reviews I find all seem to concentrate on games.

Look for MVA panel monitors. You can tell because those are usually advertised as 170 degrees in both horizontal and vertical directions for the viewing angle, at a contrast ratio of 10:1. Regular TN panels (which are the ones with viewing angle problems) have an advertised angle of 140 to 160 degrees, and/or specify a contrast ratio of 5:1.

The downside is that those panels tend to be slower than TN panels in terms of response time, so there may be some ghosting.

Viewsonic's VP191b uses an MVA panel and has the best overall response time of any monitor out right now (to my knowledge). In case you didn't know, the manufacturer stated response times are pretty near meaningless in terms of actual performance. Look at this this comparison between the VX924 (5ms response) and the VP191b (20 ms response).
