Should i use the big boys (1-800, etc) or a local florist?

I used 1800flowers before. I think it's pretty much the same so if price is not different go with local.

I think 1800 flowers is the only one that will send the flowers in a wrap or vase. The other E-florist just send the flowers in a box via Fedex or UPS

I've always prefered local places, especially if you can go in and see what they normally do and the quality of the flowers they have.

i thought the big boys like 1800flowers and proflowers send their flowers in a fedex box. it ruines the idea and mood with the fedex box.

Try FloristDex, and look up a local florist in the area. I've always gotten better prices for roses from the florist themselves, and they do a better job of delivery than the big boys (they will sometimes let you specify what time you would like the flowers delivered).

I've used 1800 flowers a multitude of times. They don't send things in a FedEx box, they have contracts with local florists. Everyone always loves the flowers I've sent via 1800 flowers. You can get discounts by using American Express with 1800 flowers or get Skymiles by using www.ftd.com.

I too like the idea of surprising her with the flowers in person. Especially when she thinks you should be at work. Little things like that does spice up life a bit. That would have the biggest positive response. Sending it in a fedex/ups box?? WTF?? That's a major turnoff.

Sending flowers to her work is one of the easiest, most effective things you can do for very little money (relatively speaking) because most women love to gloat to their coworkers about it. You'd think something so cliched and predictable would be frowned upon, but human nature never fails =).

Nice. Women love flowers anytime. Things are "cliched" a lot of times because it's proven that they work.

Support your local mechants.

If you explain to them that she is more than just a flower recepient, they may generate some additional TLC for you, to generate repeat business.

Go local. I use the online merchants when I send to relatives and friends. The local florist will deliver the flowers in the vase, and arranged nicely. The others ship it in a FedEx box, and they have to assemble it all themselves.

Or you could be a man and bring them to her yourself ;)

(take my word on this one, it works)

I agree. Local florist. Deliver them yourself. This is the equivlanet of 12 get-out-of-jail-free-cards.

So very true. Flowers always get a lot of attention when they are sent to the offices I have worked at. Usually followed by women commenting "I wish somebody would send me flowers." Cliched or not women love 'em. :D
