Agreed. Also, regarding the Pearl, personally I can't stand predictive text, gotta have qwerty.

KK, why not a Blackjack or if you want to spend a little more, 8525?

does the 8525 still use the same processor as the 8125, my 8125 is slow as hell, my treo 650 was way faster than this pos
No, it uses a 400MHz Samsung processor. Overclock your 8125. My MDA is at 240MHz and is fast enough to handle anything save Skype.

omap clock? , will try that. 1 of my biggest issues with outlook on my phone is that I dont get a notification when a new mail comes to 1 of my outlook folders, does you mda act the same way, from what I have read it only gives a notification if a new mail comes in the main folder, I wonder if there is a way to fix that

The blackjack got bad reviews. They said the keyboard was too cramped together, and user's often hit the wrong buttons. And the navigation button was too small and cramped as well.

Id prefer a querty, but I'll settle for the Pearl. That scroll ball sold me.

Yep, omapclock. Not sure about the notification issue, do you mean you have rules to move mail into subfolders, or different inboxes for different accounts? I think I remember hearing something about this issue.

The keyboard on the Pearl is even smaller.
And I don't get the gripes about the nav button, why even use that when you've got a scroll wheel?!
And I don't know what you're talking about, I've seen nothing but good reviews for the Blackjack, albeit with some niggles similar to yours.

Well, Im going to Cingular today to hold the pearl and see how it feels in my hand. If it feels as crampe as the Blackjack, I wont get it.

I wouldn't buy another PDA or Smartphone without a real QWERTY keyboard. Handwriting recognition, on-screen keyboards, and psuedo QWERTY keypads all suck IMHO.

Well, there are rumors of the Blackberry Indigo coming out during the 1st quarter of next year. It's basically the Pearl, just a bit larger with a full qwerty keyboard. For some carriers, they will get the one with the camera. Cingular's version will be camera-less. Id much rather have that phone as it has a full qwerty keyboard, but I cant wait 4-5 more months for a new phone.

No.

Seriously, stop bashing.

The Blackberry has tons of third party apps. No, not as many, but most are better quality in my experience.

I'm not bashing, I answered his question honestly. BB does not have lots of apps like palm and winmo does. They have some, but as you said, not nearly as many.

It does have lots. The answer is still yes to the OP, just not as many.

Have you seen the Blackberry Pearl? It's not like the other Blackberrys, as it is marketed towards the younger crowd. It's more of a fun phone than a business phone.
Its design doesn't mean anything. The underlying email/sync functionality is the same...which is, without a BES, nothing great.

Same goes for WinMo phones...no Exchange server, not that great.
I disagree. I've been using WinMo phones for about 4 years, way before I had access to an Exchange server for any kind of email sync, and think they're great.

I would definitely suggest a 8525 or a Treo 750.

rather than a phone that has some pda functions, id rather have a pda that has phone functions.

i think the best compromise so far are the treos.. but my sister has the 650 and i found the display absolutely horrible. it wasnt intuitive to use, either.

i was also mixed up between a Pearl and Axim... went for Axim. id use the pearl if it supported screen writing and all of that stuff.. but doesnt seem like a viable pda to me

I ended up not getting either, and I bought a Palm T/X. Haven't started playing with it yet, but it looks pretty.
