Gonna build a new computer but its been 5 years, has anything changed?

Im going to be building a new computer soon. I built my last one but that was 4 to 5 years ago (good ol BX chipset). Has anything major changed since then, or is it pretty much all the same stuff. Is there a difference between hooking up those fast ATA harddrives vs an older ISA rig for example?

ide drives are pretty much the same, but the price of serial ATA is coming down fast, unless you need a monster drive ( 160GB+ )
agp video instead of pci
power is still ATX
USB is more prominent, but all built into the mobo

i recommend using an nVidia nForce2 chipset motherboard if you are going AMD

it a little easier/simpler if anything, no more motherboard jumpers, all settings are in bios

Motherboards seem to come with more integrated stuff, and the integrated stuff doesn't really add much cost nor does it really suck. Integrated Ethernet/USB2/Firewire/RAID are pretty common; integrated sound is pretty common to, and on the nForce2 mobos it doesn't really suck like old integratead solutioons did.

my friends new P4 dell has all this crap loaded in it... it has 5 second delays sometimes... it crashes up counter strike once a week... and has blue screens once in awhile.
