dood, there is no shame in getting checked for a mental disorder. i am obsessive compulsive and a bit of general anxiety disorder. there is NOTHING wrong. i, like you, had an ex girlfriend and i had a hard time getting over her. only now i realize that it was because of OCD. OCD is and can be given to you from your mother. whatever thats called, i dont know. anyways, first things first, there are two proven ways to help you get better/feel better. there is no cure for ocd. but there is treatment in which you can feel like yourself again and not woryr about so much stuff.
1. cognitive behavioral therapy -- proven to help combat ocd.
2. any ssri anti deprssant. im currently on 50mg zoloft daily and it works.
3. but most important, find a therapist who specializes in OCD.
you can do this by visiting
www.ocfoundation.org and requesting a packet of info and doctors who work in your area.
OCD is nothing to be ashamed of, but without treatment it can get worse and it will suck, big time.
hope this helps.
