Tomorrow, Sunday, i get on a 6 hour busride up to Kern County, 1.5 hours north of Bakersfield.

there, i sleep, and the next day i start a 3 night, 4 day backpacking trek. 26 miles total. before food and such, i've got my pack down to 13 pounds. so i think i'm okay. (not carrying a tent, real light sleeping bag)

get back in base camp, till saturday just getting fat off camp food (ugh!)

i carried 45 lbs according to the scale once

and that was damn near empty. no food, no water.

i usually packed like that too.

when i was in scouts i used to do backpacks all the time, then i got wise and just stuck with base camp, it was a lot more fun playing horshoes with the old guys while they drank whiskey and playing cribbage by the fire a fter eating a great meal.
