Gomorrah - Italy's Other Mafia?

I just picked up this book recently. Haven't been able to finish it for some reason, but it seemed interesting.

Can't watch the trailer right now though.

Wow. I hope that's not a real subtitle.

Mafia = "Our Thing" (la cosa nostra) based in Sicily

Camorrah = our thing based in Naples.

when one says "Mafia," one refers to an organized crime syndicate that traces its origins to Sicily, and Sicily only.

Hence, there is no Russian Mafia, there is no Romanian Mafia, there is no Chinese Mafia, etc..

Think about it: Why doesn't anyone ever say the Russian Yakuza? It would be just as wrong as saying Russian mafia.

Except it got genericized. What do you call kleenex, tissues? band-aids? styrofoam? same deal.

Actually in Italy we often use the word "Mafia" for every crime organization. So, in our language, it does make sense to say "Russian Mafia".
"Mafia" started in Sicily, that's true, but nowadays we call it "cosa nostra" (our thing), then we have camorra (Naples) and ndrangheta (in Calabria, the closest region to Sicily).

Yea I was pretty excited about it, but it turned out to suck. Not even close to one of the best mafia movies.
