So yesterday I was on my way to test drive my dream car that I'm considering buying.

Only to be pulled over and get a ticket for going 48 in a 30.

:disgust::disgust::disgust::disgust::disgust::disgust::disgust:

Only a $75 ticket, but throwing my insurance up some points really kill me.

The stupid cop checked off "radar" AND "estimated"
can i contest this?

What was the dream car? I'm guessing by dream you mean fast and this is just a sign on things to come if you buy it :D

Unless you were actually only going 30, don't bother contesting it.

You really think you're going to get out of it cause the cop estimated youre speed at 35 before he turned on the radar?

I'm considering an '03 Mistubishi Eclipse Spyder.... and I guess I shouldn't classify it as my dream car.... my dream car would truthfully be somehting i could never afford.

I can almost guarantee he didn't really radar me. He was in front of me and there was a car between us.... then he swerves over to the side, jumps out and points me down. Damn pig, I was going 40 tops, not 48....

How many points is a speeding ticket on your record? 3?

In Wisconsin, 10-19 over is 3 points and about $100-150 depending on the area.....

As long as your record is clean otherwise you shouldn't have a HUGE problem with insurance, but it's best if you're over 25, married, and don't have a mangina....but sometimes you just gotta take what you can get.

I don't know about Mass. but in GA we can usually appear and get the miles lowered so the effect isn't so severe.

I've had 3 of those... and a one night stay in jail :(

I don't think you can do much to fight it, if he had time to jump out and point you down he would have had to have been a good distance ahead to do it. I've seen cops rader out their back window all the time and the precision of the radar guns is pretty accurate.

What, no traffic school option for you or do they already know you by your first name there? How long were you both on the same road and were you catching up to him? Check your state's DMV to see if it's 2 or 3 points.

Of course contest it! Chances are you'll get a simple plea.
