from personal experience with incidents like this, its best to just pay it off, otherwise they charge you insane interest and collection fees and you end up paying like 5 times what you actually owed

<< grrr. i borrowed 3 books, i can't find one of them (it's in my house somewhere)... so i never got around to returning them. i wonder if i return them they'll waive the fee or something. they said something about an outside collection agency. hmm. >>

SEVENTY FIVE FU'ING DOLLARS? I thought liability can not exceed the actual value of the lost/damaged property?

<< part of me wants to fvck with the outside collection agency though.... i would have taken care of all of this if it weren't for my busy busy schedule....

You don't want to deal with a collection agency... they can put a mark on your credit history. You really want a mark on it for $75 in late fines?
>>

Maybe I should threaten those people that owe me money with collection agency.

heh, well... i guess the books are all like around 20 bucks each or something. how did it turn out? believe it or not, i actually made a thread about it :) i returned the two i had, and the nice librarian said that i'd only have the pay the missing book fee for the missing one (duh)... but it was a hot deal because she waived the late fees for the two that i returned :)

i'm not quite sure what the mods edited... that's kinda creepy.

so the moral of the story is that if your books are late you should keep them so long that the librarian is ecstatic when you bring them back and waves the fee. :) what a great christmas story.

BUT I AM BIG AND STRONG AND HAIRY WITH HAIRY LARGE TESTICLES!!!

AAAARRRRRGGHHH!!!

I owe them like $80, because I borrowed 3 Ahnold DVDs from the library's tiny collection and kept them for 3 weeks, just to test out my new burne..err...DVD player, and now I have no intentions of paying. :Q

Screw you all, $1.00 a day over their short-ass checkout time is rediculous.

:D

Is this a university library? If so, you may be forced to pay if you ever want to register for classes again.

LOL, this reminds me... I once borrowed a book from the public library at the beginning of my freshman year in high school.... and i couldnt find it... in my junior year, i got a postcard saying, i owe the library 10 dollars for the book and like 900 days in late fees.... around the middle of my senior year, i was cleaning this storage shed we have up and found the book and took it back. they said i owed them 10 dollars for the book and like 1250 days in late fees.... and i showed them the book... they took it back and charged me like $3.00 in late fees.... i was LMAO out of the door....
