golfers, which balls you like best?

Hey guys. I was looking over here and thought this would be a great present for my dad. I'm looking to spend no more than $30 for the golf balls, and most of them have free shipping. Unfortunately I have to pay sales tax since I live in KY (bummer), but that's a part of life.

I know nothing about golf balls, so which ones of these for $30 is the best?

Ever seen that show on Comedy Central "The State"

This thread made me think of the "I wanna dip my balls in it" guy

😛

When I was a kid I sawed one open with a hacksaw. I got about half way through and noticed that the ball was starting to crack the rest of the way by itself. Thinking "WTF??", my curiosity got the best of me so of course I move in for closer inspection. Turns out, those things are packed with little rubber band shreds, and the pressure caused it to eject the heavy rubber core straight at my face. Won't do that again.

😀

Look in his golf bag to see what he uses now. Golf balls have many different coverings and compression ratings so make sure you get the kind he likes.

I love balata balls, but they are quite expensive and cut/scuff really easily. 🙁

I wouldn't waste my money on any of those.

The new Nike balls do really well

The new Callaway balls are good

Titeliests are great golf balls too.

They should be found for not too much more than $30.

Good luck

But it's the personalized thing I like about them. And the sharpie idea is the stupidest thing I've heard. It defeats the whole purpose here. I just think he'll like them, and I want to get the best golf ball I can afford for him.

How good a golfer is your pop (ie-what's his handicap)? That makes a big difference when choosing balls since something that suits the average hacker will feel like crap to a scratch golfer and vice versa.

I just use the cheapest ones I can find. they all end up in the lake anyway.

Actually, for the most part, I use Top Flight XL's.

Some balls are held for charity
And some for fancy dress
But when they're held for pleasure
They're the balls that I like best

😛

i use no-name balls because i can lose them 🙂

i really like the titleist pro-v1's... they're really good balls... hit somewhat far, and have great feel around the green... if i'm not playing with pro-v's, i also like the new calloways and titleist nxt-tour's... the nxt-tours can be found for around 25, easy...

heheh
that really musta hurt.. :Q

I've messed around with a couple different balls. Some titlist, some calaways (blue, not red), wilson, dunlop, top flight, and pinnacle.

And out of the bunch, the wilson platinum straight distance have been my favorite. Good feel off the club, and very accurate. The Dunlop DDH-10's are great for drives, but have a disconnected feel with irons.

The calaway blues sound awesome when you connect with them though 🙂 CRACK!

A friend of mine works at a golf club, and before some tournament they were using Pro v1s for their freaking range balls.

Needless to say he got a couple shopping bags full hehe.
