I just replaced all my clubs. I got Adams Tight Lies Ultimate GT Irons 3-PW for $129, that included a free Adams Tight Lies Fairway wood also added a Nike dual-strap carry stand bag for $49 all from Bass Pro Shops. Then today I bought a Adams Tight Lies GT 363 Driver for $99 at Golfsmith. I like the irons going to go hit the driver tomorrow...

My 7 iron is a standard King Cobra Oversize with a stiff steel shaft. Nothing has been modified on it. I am not sure what the loft is since I did not build the clubs. I am not crazy enough to risk $5K on a bet if you do not believe me (I don't even have that much anyway, just graduated from college). That is your onw problem. I don't know how I hit it so far. I also hit my PW (from the same set of clubs) approximately 165yds and the 200yds for the 7 iron is truth too. I just go by the granite markers in the ground by the tees to determine what to hit. On one par three on the course I play at home the yardage marker says 200. I hit 7 iron there and I have stuck the green on more than 1 occasion too. On another par three some times the tees are back at 150-165 (depends on location) and I hit PW. Off the tee I usually hit 2 wood (11 degrees, steel) and I carry that about 270-280 yds. Maybe I will see about borrowing my friends video camera and taping some of my shots. Also, as for the bet if I have to carry the shot 196yds and the pin is in the front of the green I would probably hit a hard 7 (not that I already do not hit it hard normally) and see where that leaves me. Now, if it is uphill or into the wind I would probably hit a 6 iron, but given a calm, warm day with a level shot I would hit a 7. Wow, I think this is probably the most I have typed for a post in awhile. :)

Edit: One more thing, I usually like to play Titleist balls (preferably Pro V1s if I have them or the NXTs). I have grown to dislike the harder balls over the years and I prefer the softer balls like some of the Stratas, Titleists, and Callaways.

Distance for an iron should be CARRY distance.

When I said I hit a 5-iron 200 yards, I was talking about aggregate distance, not carry. That's assuming I'm hitting onto a reasonably level landing area of course.

Now to the main point. Do all you guys use GOLF as a verb?

Yes. So does everyone else I know.

you do understand that golf course yardages are wrong, right? It's to make fools like you believe they CARRY their 7 iron 200 yards. Take a Bushnell yardage pro, or any other good range finder, and you'll see what I mean. As for carrying your 11 degree club 270-280, that is even more ridiculous than carrying your 7 iron 200. You do understand what your swing speed has to be to CARRY 280, right? And that is with a perfect smash factor (ball speed is 1.5 times swing speed) and perfect launch angle and RPM's. I think you need to play with some good golfers to see what your real distances are. Carry 280!!! but yet, haven't played yet this year!! LOL!!!

Please don't lump me in with Mr. 7-iron. Hitting a 5-iron and a 7-iron 200 yards are two completely different things. Hitting a 5-iron 200 yards is entirely possible.
