i play an absurd amount of games and the original goldeneye was very fun

game play wise it was just as good as anything on the PC at the time..

dont see your gripe

in fact a lot of pc games at the time could have learned something from it

You know what PC game came out the same year (1997) as Golden Eye? Quake 2. Yeah, I think PC gaming was a bit better than console gaming in the FPS area.

Were you playing them while all sat together on the couch huddled around a small TV?
Most of the appeal of Goldeneye was the party aspect, sitting around a screen on a (comparatively awesome) FPS game (for consoles), and then raging at the dude who picks Oddjob.

This. We always let the kid that didn't know how to play be oddjob.

I remember when one of our friends parents was throwing away a TV because the sound didn't work. We hooked up the audio from the N64 to the my receiver and for the first time actually had a large screen to play 4 player on. So many good times.

I had fun my senior year in college, where we were given keys to the Engineering Building to do our Senior Project work. We used to take the Gamecube and hook it up to the projector in the engineering lecture hall and play the game on the 10' screen. It was pretty cool, and a good break from working on the senior project.

I agree that the PC FPSes were far better, and I didn't understand why so many loved Goldeneye so much, but it was still fun to play. Just wierd having the slow control with the controllers.

it was the first multiplayer fps on console that was good. and you didnt need 4 PCs to play it, just 4 controllers and a console. it was more accessible back then.
