Golden Orb Installation help

I Picked up a C566, an Iwill II Slocket and Golden Orb fan. I am having a little problem with the fan. I have read other threads to be careful with the install of it, to be mindful of not breaking the chip. I see that the fan tightens against the chip as the heatsink is tightened. Could someone please explain the procedure. Should I maybe bend down the tabs a little?

Take a pair of plyers and bend the little ramps down - in stock form from Thermaltake the nob will have a HARD time getting into the notches on those ramps - just bend em down enough so you can snap the GO into place - once you do your first its easy 😀

Golden Orb's can be difficult to install sometimes compared to other heatsinks. But, once they are installed you know they are on nice and tight.

Sometimes those tabs just have to be 'adjusted' though. 😉

I recently tried to install a Golden Orb on an Abit Slotket!!!, and I ended up taking the GO apart and drilling larger holes in the bracket (where the posts on the GO insert into the bracket) to make it easier to install.

Ultimately what my VAR and I ended up doing was installing the GO and its bracket in one piece, by slipping the GO's bracket ends over the two mounting clips on the Slotket socket, w/ a needle nose plier. We did this because of the difficulty in aligning the GO posts w/ the install bracket, once it was clipped onto the socket mounting clips.
