Going to Vegas this weekend! Update: I'm back!

CPS has been a joke for a pretty long time, however I heard they recently redid everything top to bottom and it's a serious contender now.

There's a newish Hainanese chicken joint by the Stratosphere (by Golden Steer) now that is pretty amazing for a quick lunch. My biweekly addiction.

I have eaten at Charlie Palmer over a dozen times since its opening and had only one bad experience with a server. Every dining establishment is hit or miss. A couple of exec sous chefs in town I personaly know still recommend it. But to each their own. Plenty of steakhouses in Vegas to choose from. Is the chicken joint you referred too Flock and Fowl.

.

I never said that the udon had a high QPR (although compared to similar entrees at similar class Japanese restaurants, that dish does in fact have high QPR). I said that the restaurant had a high QPR and that chawanmushi udon dish is higher quality than a $7.99 steak dinner from Ellis Island.

My beer from Raku cost $8 alone, but I'd argue that the QPR on that is still high given that the retail price of the beer is $6 - a relatively small markup for alcohol.

Don't worry Madoka - I'll bookmark Ellis Island and in 5 years update this thread with my review 😉'

Dont waste your time. The only good things at Elis Island is the price of micro brews and its cheap ribs. The steak special is nothing to write home about and then have to risk getting robbed in the parking garage or pan handled at the front door. Koval Street is a crime ridden fest hole. You can get the prime rib buffet at Main Street Station along with a couple of micro brews for under $20.

Makova, that nice looking steak plus the sides and beer = $8? No catch? I don't have to gamble for at least 1 hour or lost certain amount of money? If so, I will stop by for sure on my next trip to Vegas.

No catch. The place is a crap hole in my opinion.

They are all over rated, even tried the top dog at Caesars a few years ago. Never again will I go to a buffet in Vegas, you are better off just going to top tier restaurants.

This is the real answer, but when you're with a group of people who aren't in the same uh....culinary frame of mind, buffets are a godsend.

I can never take my parents to a Michelin *'d place but they loooooove them buffets.

Thats what I was thinking.

I'm pretty flexible, even some of the buffets in Biloxi aren't bad IMHO.

But haven't been to those even in awhile.

The seafood was great at those, coming straight in before the BP incident.

Wow I'm dumb, forgot to post the name. Edited post. Yes, Flock & Fowl. Love that place.

We're from SoCal, so it means we took the 4.5 hour road trip instead of the 4.5 hour plane ride.

It's only an hour long flight. Of course, once you factor in travel time to the airport, TSA bullshit and flight time it's not that much quicker than driving but if you throw any traffic at all into the equation flying usually makes more sense and is less tiring. Plus, it's less wear and tear on my car.

I figure going solo it's about the same cost driving vs flying, but going with a group it's vastly cheaper driving. Besides, usually when we go to vegas we bring the dogs 😀

LOL! I may have to rethink this. I'm working most of the day Friday and catching an afternoon flight out of San Diego. Still planning on a nice dinner and a martini or two after I get in. Probably do some gambling after dinner.

Not sure what we have planned for Saturday but my friends want to go downtown, that's why we were planning on eating at that steakhouse there.

These guys love Vegas and go a couple times a year (they're brothers) so I think I'll just let them handle everything.

Umm, no...

well why didn't you say so

take $20 and go to the pinball museum

then take everything else and go to palomino club

This. or bunny ranch if you are really adventurous.

I'm going solo. A buddy of mine is driving in from a road trip he took to Utah (he lives in Belmont Shore) and my other friend is flying in from John Wayne airport after work tomorrow.

I've done the drive once. It is about 4.5-5 hours and it is tiring.

Round trip airfare was $186.

Definitely would have flown at that price.

But it would have been free for me to fly since I play the credit card game and have a shitload of Southwest points! Would have been $10 in taxes probably.

EDIT:

I mean it's free on my already paid for private jet that is...

I already know hookers n blow aren't going to be involved - you're too old for that. Therefore, I am not interested in this thread.
