Going to Vegas for the 1st time ever

Get something to eat at Earl of Sandwich in the Planet Hollywood. It is insanely delicious, and decently priced.

Like others here have said, Tao is 100% asian. Never before have I felt so out of place as a white guy. I would check out the Ghost Bar at the Palms casino. Its half inside, half outside and the weather should be great when you go.

I really enjoyed the Hard Rock and the Palms casino. Very cool vibe at both of those places. For the sports book, I liked Caesars palace.

For shows, go see Beatles Love. It was pretty awesome.

Put $20 on the Vikings to win the super bowl. You wont regret it!

Okay, besides hookers and blow? Anyone have any other suggestions? I am staying at the Stratosphere, and driving my own car there.

The Bunny Ranch

Is nowhere near Vegas, it's near Carson City, and FYI prostitution is illegal in Vegas(Clark County)

this being true doesnt change the hundreds of pro's walking around the strip and major casinos (and not so major, lol @ the sahara regulars)

See a cirque show. You won't regret it.

I saw Ka when I was there. Love is good, but I heard "O" was the best. Well worth it IMO.

I am going for pleasure. I plan on walking the strip and getting a really big drink to take with me. 😛

if thye still sell it, i would recommend the "shadowdancer" from the shadowdancer bar in Cesars. Its 40 bucks, has copious amounts of top shelf liquor in it, and comes in a HUGE glass that is good for carrying around and starting conversations. i still have my glass from my first vegas trip in '02.

the only "must do" thing ive found in vegas is a 2am-7am blackjack marathon at a decent casino (i prefer the venetian). remember, if youre doing good and they switch the dealer to a young, fast-talking, asian girl just do yourself a favor and switch tables BEFORE your losing stread starts.

#1 - Get married
#2 - Get a divorce the next day
#3 - Craps
#4 - Roulette
#5 - Blackjack
#6 - Go home broke.

Also, please drink some for me. I couldn't drink while I was there, and so missed out on the unique drinks places offer.

Have fun, whatever you do, and report back. Eat, see shows, walk the strip, get crazy cheap drink deals.

I might be headed to Sedona this weekend, BTW.

Edit-Take cabs, driving and parking in Vegas is a bitch.

Lies.

It was easy to get around in Vegas. And i'm from the a midwest rural town of 1200. We rented a camaro while we were there, so maybe I just WANTED to drive around more...

Parking was easy, just park at nyny or MGM's garage and you can get to everything.

I just got back 2 weeks ago from a 5 day trip (also my first time there.)

Go see a show. The amazing Jonathon was good (small crappy theatre, but you are right at the stage). It's at the Harmon which is next to Planet Hollywood.

Penn & Teller had a good show, it's across the highway at the rio. Well worth it as well.

We did the Hoover Dam, not a bad excursion. Cheap and fun.

RUB was great at the Rio, if you like bbq...

Fremont street was pretty good too, go down there after dark for a bit and watch one of the shows (free) and wander the old casino's..

If you are into clubs, go to Tryst at Wynn and XS at Encore. Being hot will help in getting in.

Shows, any of the Cirque shows (O and Ka my favorites) and La Reve at the Wynn theatre.

Food, zagat is your friend

I saw KA, Mystere, Dralion, and Varekai. KA was amazing. My gf saw KA with me and then went to see O another time. she tells me O is WAY better than KA, so based on that I would recommend you to go for O if possible.

Carry plenty of cash. Cabs w/o credit cards piss me off but there's only 1 company that takes CC in LV so you can either wait for that or just go for 99% of the cabs which take cash only. Oh it's expensive too. It cost something like $15 to get from Mandalay Bay to the Wynn. Traffic blows and so they go on highway sometimes. Either way you get stuck in traffic and the fare shoots up.

Pick a few things to do and stick to it. Aquarium @ Mandalay Bay is nice. Forum shops @ Caesars are nice.

BTW about the clubs, Tryst is pretty good but XS is an older crowd to me. I'm Asian as are my friends so we usually hit up TAO because it's a more Asian crowd there. DEFINITELY some hot chicks and I'm sure as a girl you'll find hot guys there. Yeah. JET at Mirage was arite, and I hear LAX is decent at Luxor. I can't comment on the other clubs. I need to go back again.

There is no reason to take a cab from one place on the strip to another.

The Duece has $5 all day bus passes.

Sunday through Weds they crawl the streets. Thurs-Sat they are in the clubs...

In one day I walked both ends of the strip and took the train/monorail thing to the Hilton to see the Star Trek thing.

Also went to Fry's since at the time I was living in a state that had none 😛

I saw a Hawaiian Tropic model shoot, that was fun 🙂

Beyond that I drank, ate and gambled.

I was there for 10 days though, so had time to BS around...

Me and my buddies will buy a 40, walk down the strip going to each casino and when we start to lose we move on to the next one getting more drunk with each casino we visit. Don't remember much when we get close to the end.

will do. 🙂

I am just thinking I will try cocktails I wouldn't normally try, since you can drink out in the open there.

Oh speaking of drinks, go hit up the Red Square at Mandalay Bay. Its a really cool russian themed bar. They have some crazy good martinis there as well.

EDIT: and the bar is made of ice!

Rio Seafood Buffet

Go to Fremont St. at night.

Drink a couple of those long 64oz fruity drinks

You know why they call it The Deuce? Because it's shit. I got one of those passes, sat in traffic for 30 minutes to go half a mile, said "fuck it," got out, walked, and made it from The Bellagio to TI in less time than it took the bus to make the trip. If you're going to drive, use side streets to avoid the Strip; the traffic is like getting fucked to death by a horse.

Here's some things that I'd do while I'm there... most of them I've already done.

Helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon (preferably one that lands inside the canyon)
Hoover Dam
Bellagio Fountain Show, see "O" while you're there
That rotating restaurant on the top of the Stratosphere tower at night
Fremont Street (again, at night)
Fashion Show and the Forum at Ceasar's (since you're a girl, you're going to want to shop... might as well go the nice shopping malls on the strip)
That famous Pawn Shop that you see on the History Channel... I'm putting that on my list for next time. It looks like they have some cool stuff!
You gotta see a showgirl show while you're there... It's Vegas!

Places to avoid: Circus, Circus. What a dump!

Things that I miss:

Stardust... they had a really cool garden with dancing fountains, and $1 frozen margaritas. Cheapest on the strip!
The Star Trek Experience at the Hilton... it's closed now.

Agree the Duece sucks a55. Takes like 20 minutes to 50 feet beacuse of all the people. Just pay the dough.
