like others have said there is viturally nothing from el paso until you hit the central part of tx. the riverwalk is cool but its awfully crowded usually and a pain to get to (parking) alot of the time because its become so known as a tourist destination and really is very small area wise for how much traffic goes there.
also lots of bbq joints all over texas.... you are gonna have some of the best bbq in the world living in tx for the next few yrs.
when were you planning on leaving? reason i ask is we have that tropical storm/hurricane headed this way and is expected to make landfall right near where you were planning on driving in. If it does and you are coming in during that time you will be much better off staying north and coming down through dallas.
