Hey Civ88,
I'm the guy that Amish was talking about. I lived in South Africa for a couple of years. Unfortunately, I was never down near Cape Town. But, I was up around Joburg quite a bit. The couple of obvious places that come to mind are Kruger National Park and God's Window. Kruger National Park is HUGE!! It's a wildlife park that you just drive your car through and look for the wild animals. The way it was setup when I went there was that they have rest stations throughout the park. Instead of the animals being caged, the rest stations are fenced in to keep the animals out.

I only got to go for a day trip. But, if wildlife and African culture interest you. You could easily spend several days in the park. And, if you want to see lions, you might have to. *grin* We were lucky enough to get to a spot where lions had been spotted, but by the time we got there, they had moved far enough away from the road that the only way to see them was with binoculars.
God's Window is an interesting spot. If you have seen "The God's Must Be Crazy", the spot where the guy throws the coke bottle 'off the end of the world' is God's Window. Most of the time, it doesn't have the fog like it did in the movie. But, if you get lucky, you might catch it on a day when it's all foggy and it looks like you are standing at the end of the world.
Both of those spots are in the Northeastern part of South Africa.
I'll give it some more thought and add some more later. Gotta go to a meeting now......
