Going to Seoul for two weeks in late March

you are visiting family, they will be your guide, right?

Yep; we'll be staying with my dad & his (Korean) wife. He's been there for ~20 years but has a solidly military view of things. I've got no doubt we'll see some great stuff they decide on. I'll have young kids with me - 6 and 2, and my wife. Sounds like he's got a NK observation spot, the zoo, some select parks, as well as some day trips to Sorak mountain and "a couple hundred miles south to a city that is really neat", hah. He also mentions a couple amusement parks and that he's about a 10 minute walk from the Korea National Museum, and near the Korean War museum, which I'll totally be into.

Sounds like several days without anything big planned, so suggestions are welcome 🙂

Dude..you're set then!

Just in case though:
For the DMZ tour, you have to book it quite a bit in advance. Make sure you join an early-morning tour that involves going to Panmunjeom.

On my last trip, I went to all the palaces and museums. That was very cool; especially since my friend who I went with is literally the direct decedent of King Sejong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sejong_the_Great
He's the first of the first of the first of the first of the first of the first son of that clan.

I'm not kidding. His own family tree is in the museum, and his family owns their own crypt, and LARGE quantities of land. We visited his family crypt, and his final resting place has already been determined along a long line of graves of the first sons.

I feel soo sorry for him. He has soo much pressure to marry a Korean girl only, and marry soon. He's been single for a few years now, and never went out with korean girls (much to the chagrin of his grandparents and relatives. His dad actually doesn't care lol)'

Anyways, I hope that by the time you get there, nandaemun has finished reconstruction after some idiot burned it down.

He's smart. Korean girls are intolerable.

Ah - I wasn't aware they were rebuilding the temple - that'll be a stop for sure. As for Panmunjeom, I think my dad's lining up the border excursion... he was career Army, so he's probably got something great in mind. I'll still mention it - I just googled it and that's exactly the scene I think of when envisioning the border.

The pressure on your pal sucks, but it sure could be worse than being born into that kind of money 😛
