Is he going to play the drum solo of life to bring back the dead?
Also, Walter Melon is a jerk.

() Rush REALLY sucks.

no way!
Neal Peart brought meatwad back from the dead.
His talent alone makes the band at the very least respectable.

I have a theory about people that find Geddy Lee's voice annoying. They lack the sense of musical appreciation to clearly hear Rush as a unit without focusing so much on one aspect of the tunes. That said, I think Geddy just fucking pwns - he wails, he rocks! If you had that voice, think of the nutsack you would need to actually follow your dream and rock despite not having a generic rocker voice! You can only imagine how much criticism he ignored throughout his career. I appreciate his voice just like a unique instrument and have come to think of it as a compliment to the sound of the band rather than a hindrance.

edit: oh yeah i don't mean to sound like you're a tard if you simply don't like Rush... of course everyone has their own tastes :)

Not by a long shot, at least by my measure.

I think is vocal work is irreplaceable for the Rush sound. I particularly like his vocals in earlier tunes like "Something for Nothing"...I guess I'm just weird that way :)

Well, I have successfully recovered from the weekend. The concert was pretty darn good. To be honest the first half (they played two 80 minute sets) was a bit of a letdown as the majority of the music was off of the Snakes and Arrows album which I have not had any time to listen to. The songs that they played off of it were, for the most part, highly technical in a musical sense, but they weren't true to Rush's energy and unique style IMO (take this with a grain of salt as I am not a huge Rush "fan" per se, but rather an occasional lister). The second half was phenomenal. Neil Peart's 13 minute drum solo was the highlight of the night, and I must say that as a drummer, I can pass happily away into oblivion having now seen him do the "cross-over" in person.

The lighting was spectacular, although some of the videos that were playing in the background left a little to be desired. The intro to Tom Sawyer was hilarious, and the flames during "Witch Hunt" were a captivating touch.

One thing that struck me was the energy that these guys still have on stage. Geddy was jumping all over the place and rocked out on that bass several times. They sound almost exactly the same in concert as they do on CD, denoting a level of musical talent and quality that many groups don't possess today. Alex had some captivating solos that really got the crowd going, and Neil was just fantastic as always.

The greatest thing about it all was that after leaving the concert and hearing almost 3 straight hours of their music, I wasn't bored with it and wanted to hear more. We were rocking out the whole way home. Good times!

Glad you enjoyed it.

As the played the songs from Snakes & Arrows, most people sat down, but while they played the well-known hits, it was a standing crowd only. I couldn't help but wonder whether that's frustrating for them. You know, to think that maybe they'd be just as well off to play only old hits rather than new material. I believe S&A has been somewhat commercially successful though, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

So, did you like the intro to Tom Sawyer during the encore (I'm assuming it was the encore song, as it was for us)? ;)

Amazing. I might have enjoyed it more if I weren't so dead inside.

I'm disappointed they didn't play Nobody's Hero or Resist, but playing Tom Sawyer, Yyz, Dreamline and Witch Hunt nearly made up for it.
