Yep, give your cat "forced love". Once it has no front claws it will find it difficult to escape from your clutches when you try and give it attention, whether it likes it or not. It may wiggle, but as long as it's not screeching and what not you can continue to hold it. Then when it grows up it will actually start to like it 😀

That really sounds like abuse but it isn't! 😀

Three days is way to young, leave it with it's mother until it can eat for itself and has learned to use the litter box.

Declawing a cat IS abuse. Holding a cat down that does not want to be held is also abuse.

Think about it when you have a kid, remove half their fingers and hold them down, they will learn to like it.

Gonna have to agree with that.

My father found their cat under a machine at work, mother had abandoned it or died. The vet said it was probably a day or two old. My mother fed it with an eyedropper and carried it around in her coat pouch. turned out to be a very healthy, friendly (almost too friendly) cat 🙂

They get over the declawing 🙂 If I sat around in the sun all day, got attention, food, and didn't have to do anything I wouldn't need the tips of my fingers either.

Get a life.....considering how much our cats adore attention, I would hardly call it abuse! Skoorb was being funny...hence my reply.

Do the people giving the kitten away even know anything about cats? :Q That is much, much too young, unless you plan on being around to feed it with kitten formula all day every day for the next month.

momma cat is also the one that teaches the kittens how to use the litter box (if she knows herself).
My wife's cat was taken away too early, and while she uses the litter box she doesn't understand the concept of burying it. She'll scratch the plastic walls instead of the litter. But other than that she turned out to be super affectionate. 😉

Mine was a pet store cat... loving, but doesn't seem to care for small children (gee, I wonder why?) which could be an issue when our baby boy gets older. So far, so good though... when baby cries (which isn't often) she'll come running to see him.... 🙂

Advice? Wait until 6 weeks, optimally. Then, just be prepared to play with kitty under its own terms. You will need to teach it gently not to do certain things, but cats each have distinctive personalities and like different things. Most like some kind of toy they can chase and catch, on a string or stick. Some will insist on sleeping with you on the bed, others will have their own place to sleep. My cat used to wake us up at night licking our faces! Scolded enough times, that stopped. 🙂

TRAIN WHILE YOUNG! Something cute as a kitten is not so cute as a full grown cat. Things like clawing furniture is best stopped as a kitten or it'll be almost impossible to stop later. For discipline, never strike a cat on the head, it too easily damages the brain. Instead, tap on their very delicate noses while scolding. For a ranged attack, the water squirt-bottle comes in handy and is also harmless. 🙂

Love it, and it'll definately love you back. 🙂
