Going to Orlando. Where to take a 3yr old?

We leave Friday morning for South Dakota for the wife's Grandmas 90th bday. Then after a week there we head to Orlando where the wife is going to the Cisco Networkers conference while me and the kids (and a baby sitter were taking) play by the pool and what not.

We were going to take the kids (3 yrs and 10 months) to DW,epcot, MGM, only on Friday night and Saturday. But during the week we were looking for other family entertainment for the kids. Are there any good zoos, water parks for kids ( I know of typhoon lagoon) or what not for young kids to do besides all the major theme parks that cost a arm and a leg.


Were staying at some new joint called the Gaylord Palms. So either way it will be two weeks of fun. I'll post some pics when we get back.

There's a Wet n'Wild on International Drive that's maybe about $20 for adult admission (haven't been there in ages). I think it's cheaper (like maybe half price) after 4 p.m. Lots of stuff on I-Drive...shopping, fun parks, a Ripleys Believe It or Not museum, etc. I know there is a Central Florida Zoo outside of Orlando (maybe ~20 miles), I'm not sure if there is a closer one
 
Well, as a alternative, there is Water Mania, the bastard child wannabe of Wet and Wild. It's in Kissimmee, which is closer to you (kinda) compared to I-drive, but not by much. I-Drive has lots of things to offer, from weird places to horrible driving conditions with billions of tourists who have no idea how to drive. There's Ripleys, as stated. Also, there's a place called WonderWorks, which is in a building that looks like it's upside down. They have a lot of cool science exhibits, an arcade, all kinds of stuff. Then, there's Pointe Orlando, which is an FAO Schwartz, and some other random stores (i don't remember) in this shopping mall/garage concept. These places are in the middle end of I Drive, while Wet N Wild and Sea World are on the North and South, respectively. I'll try and post more once I think of some.
 
If you decide to come to the East coast (Cocoa Beach) there is a Zoo @ I-95 and Wickham Road that the kids should like. The place is kid and family friendly. There is a lot of info on their website:

Eola Park downtown had some cool boats you could rent and cruise around. The opportunity may still be there.

Wekiva Springs north of Orlando is nice. Rock Springs in Apopka, just northwest of Orlando, also has (or had) some chilly, clear water to beat the heat.

I-drive has a bunch of entertainment like PsychoAndy says. I'll add that you should watch out for theft while down there.

Clermont, 45 min west of Orlando, has the Citrus Tower. Lot's of nice views. Entry is $3.50 for adults, $1.00 for children.

Cocoa Beach, about 45 minutes east of Orlando, speaks for itself. Daytona is a little further north. Take I-4.

If you are driving, also check out Ocala. Silver Springs, where they filmed the old Tarzan movies is there.

And finally, if the Gatorland Zoo is still open between Orlando and Kissimmee on the old Orange Blossum Trail, your 3 year-old would probably enjoy that.

Gator land sounds fun, he loves aligators.
 
seaworld, the animals are cool for little kids, we took my oldest daughter there when she was 4 and she loved it
 
We stayed at the Walt Disney world Dolphin resort on our honeymoon and from what we saw then it looks like everything there is beautiful.
