Here are two things I definitely want to do:
-Crater Lake
-The coast, which I heard is beautiful

The rim drive around Crater Lake doesn't get cleared until late June at the earliest, and the boat tours don't start until after that. We went down last summer and had a blast. Definitely somewhere you should visit eventually.

The coast is always a good idea. Ditto Multnomah Falls (as a bonus you can swing by Edgefield on the way back). Could also head to Mt Hood and get in a few turns up there. Meadows will probably still be open, and Timberline always is.

To be honest I think you'd be better off sticking around Washington. If you've only been here a year you haven't touched a million different places that are much closer. San Juans, coast, Rainier, North Cascades, St. Helens, Olympics, etc. If you haven't been to any of those places, skip Oregon for now.

Crater Lake is best fit into a bigger trip. Yosemite/Crater Lake is a great combo, for example. But to use your four day weekend driving all the way down there seems pointless when there is so much close by.

Hmmm... it sounds like there'll still be snow at Crater lake and it's too much to fit into 4 days. I guess I'll stick to Washington. I've been to Rainier about 8 times, San Juans twice, St. Helens once, and hiking in the Cascades about twenty times in two summers, which leaves the Olympics.

How good is it to visit Olympic NP at the end of May? It'd be fun to drive up around the coast and visit both parts of the park.

I'm actually leaving next Friday for Olympic NP.

And yes Crater Lake is still going to have a whole lot of snow at it right now.

Go to the evergreen aviation museum and see the spruce and a SR 71 black bird.

Bring your MTB and go riding. IMO the BEST trails in the US are here in Oregon! :D

As much as I love airplanes (I'm an engineer for Boeing), I've vowed to never go to another aircraft museum that isn't free. A few years ago I worked at WPAFB in Dayton, OH. The museum there is better than every other museum in the world put together - and it's free. I went to the Museum of Flight in Seattle and was incredibly disappointed in it... what a ripoff.
