Going to NYC for a couple days...what should I do whilst there?

I'm heading over to NYC a week from tomorrow to visit my dad. Talking to him on the phone, he keeps asking what I want to do while there, and the truth is, I have no idea.

So, ATOT, give me some ideas. 🙂

Well, you can always do the first-time tourist stuff:

1) Visit Statue Of Liberty/Ellis Island
2) Go to the top of the Empire State Building
3) Visit Times Square
4) See a Broadway show (ORDER them first, the lines in Times Square are awful!)
5) Go to Canal Street, and haggle with the vendors on some cheap electronic goods.
6) Blow the all the money you saved on an expensive French restaurant next to Central Park.

Too bad that you didn't plan ahead, or you might have been able to get tickets for Letterman or SNL. Oh well, you can always do it next time.

Go to McDonalds and order Big Mac.
Go to Burger King and order a Royale wit cheese.
Try some Pizza Hut and order the Big New Yorker.

Well, this will be my second time to the big apple...I'd love to see a broadway show (again, hehe). Empire State Building sounds cool, so does the restaurant, and I've never been to Ellis island, so hey. 🙂 Thanks for those suggestions. Last time I was there I went in the WTC, obviously can't do that anymore...🙁

All good suggestions, so far, and it looks like more than a few days worth of stuff to do in NYC, already.

If you don't get across the pond very often, maybe you can extend your vacation. If so, try to see Washington D.C., as well. There's at least a week or two of stuff to see, there.

<< I would suggest going to see ground zero, with the huge lights up there now >>

I'm going to NYC on a business trip for a week in April, I heard from the people there in our company's New York office that you can see Ground Zero from the office Cafeteria. 🙁

CBS Morning show, you can make a huge sign saying: "HI ATOT!!". Actually, there is suppose to be a ATOT netmeet there too, you show your pops some of the geeks you hang out with online.
