It's a nightclub in NYC. A very bizarre, nightclub. Crap goes on until 6:00am. An eye-candy experience.

Yes, if you're a pathetic loser, and waving through a window, holding up signs to get on TV excites you, then by all means, go for it.

It was just a suggestion. One of the many constructive posts I have added to this thread. Unlike yourself.

I hate to crap on your suggestion, but Haru is pretty bad. If you want some of the best sushi in NYC, check out Sushi of Gari on 78th & 1st. Don't order anything on the menu, tell the waiter "omakase" and Gari will whip up some of the most amazing sushi you've ever had depending on what is freshest. It's not cheap at around $50 per person/plate, but it will be the best sushi you've ever had.

All the other suggestions are great, it's cold here though, so it kind of sucks walking around. Stick to cabs and the subway. Careful of walking on teh icy streets as well.

Yuma sushi is 1000 times better than Haru.

The list so far. Thanks guys.
- Greys Papaya - 1.50 for 2 hot dogs and a soda.

- little italy is nice to walk around for an impromptu dinner or dessert and it
is near chinatown, south street seaport, ground zero, j&r electonics(yay!),
battery park, the nyse, and the ferry for the statue of liberty.

- walk around rockefeller center(~50th st and 5th ave) and around 5th ave.
there is an ice skating rink in the middle where the huge christmas tree is and
the stores on 5th ave may still have their christmas displays up in the
windows.

- there's also an ice skating rink in central park called wolman's rink or
something like that.

- Chuck Close exhibit at the Met. His stuff will blow you away.

- try lombardis pizza on spring st and mott, oldest pizzeria in the country

- blue ribbon, and blue ribbon sushi on thompson street are also very good

- cafe figaro(i forget which street) is a really chill cafe that is very
popular near nyu...

- check out Madame Tussaud's wax musuem at Times Square

- the Intrepid Aircraft carrier isn't too far away. It's a sea, air and space
musuem now.

- chelsea piers? you can club some golf balls, go rock climbing...whatever

- If you want some of the best sushi in NYC, check out Sushi of Gari on 78th & 1st.

It's been worse, actually it was almost 40 yesterday.
That's not the point though, come here and feel the wind blasting between the buildings.

I love NY. There is no place that I would rather be, there is so much to do here. But it sucks to walk around when it's cold.

I always end up giving tours to my friends that come to visit from out of town.

The places I usually take them to visit are -
Times Squares.
Central Park.
Village/Soho.
South Street Seaport.

You might want to check out the view from the Empire State Building, Macy's (World's Biggest Department Store), Central Park Zoo (it's tiny but animals are always great), shopping in midtown or downtown, the many many museums (bound to find something that interests you) and some of the 40,000 restaurants that are scattered around.

Ballet and opera? You? Bwahahaha. :p Can I come along just to witness? ;)

I like the Soho area, there are nice little jazz clubs across from a place called Gray's Papaya. You can maybe go to that area for dinner.

I would've been able to recommend cheap airfares, but they're Canadian air carriers, not American, sorry.

Yep, Sushi Samba is pretty good. The one near Union Square (Park Ave South, I believe) is best. It's got a very cool Latin/Japanese thing going on that a LOT of sushi places in manhattan are trying to imitate (poorly). They've got some crazy drinks as well. Girls love the place.

Oh, and Papaya King is better than Grey's, IMO. Check citysearch for locations.

imho sushi samba is trendy, and really not all that great. sure if you like something other than than the typical japanese fare, but sushi samba is just merely fusion sushi. blech.

you can goto yama down the block on 17th and irving for fairly good sushi also.

and if you're into vegetarian zen palate in union square. its a pretty mixed reaction to that place. some people love it, some people hate it with a passion. if you're into brunch try 9th street market its on 9th between 2nd and 3rd ave.

blasphemer! :)

fyi:

there's a gray's papaya on 8th st and 6th ave so it's near the village.

there's a gray's at 38th st and 8th ave which is pretty near times square and bryant park and the ny public library.

there's a gray's at 72nd and broadway so it's near lincoln center and the upper west side.

What can I say? I think Papaya King has the better Papaya drink! They've got equally good hot dogs (well...as good as 75 cent hotdogs can be), IMO.
