Going to lower my car tomorrow

I had the car for about 3 years now and I've always told myself that I would not lower it. After seeing a similar car like mine on the road I just fell in love with the way it looks sitting just a bit lower to the ground. So I'm giving in and getting it lowered tomorrow with some springs and shock combo (1.6" F and 1.2" R). Other owners have reported that this setup still gives a ride similar to stock but without the float of a large luxury car. I will be getting an alignment after a week of riding on them to help the springs settle first. I'll post pics after it's done.
 
What brand?

I need to buy some replacement shocks for mine. Only been lowered for about 10k miles but the stockers are blown (only 33k on those).

The springs are Espelir from Japan. The shocks are L-tuned. They make performance suspension for lexus sort of like trd for toyota.

Depending on the drop, if it's really low it will blow out the stock shocks very quickly. You'll need some performance ones where they're a little stiffer and designed to withstand the lowered suspension.
 
I know. I'm getting Koni's, both for my car and my gf's car. Drop is actually pretty mild; Tein H-Techs...less than 1.5".
 
dont people usually get coil overs to lower them ?

I would drop my jetta an inch or so to handle the corners better...

what car ?
 
Coil overs just make it a little easier since you can turn the plate on the strut and preload the spring more, but you trade height for suspension behavior in doing so. Depending on the height and desired spring stiffness, it would still be proper to replace the springs with the proper lengths even with coil overs. The adjustable coil overs just allow some fine trimming, corner biasing, or weight balancing. Height adjustment is just a secondary effect.

It would be extremely dangerous to go with adjustable coil overs solely so you can adjust ride height and never have to change springs again.

But if you are looking to cut weight and save space (for that turbo plumbing or wider tires?) and improve suspension as a whole, coil overs are great, but you still need properly sized springs for the desired lowering.

Tokico 5-ways are awesome. They came stock on my car and I love the ease of adjusting them.
