Well, chances are I'll be renting a room at this one house. It's not too bad, but I don't get cable tv or a phone line.

In los angeles...

Who's a good provider for each?

Which is cheaper?

I need internet access. is cable or dsl cheaper in los angeles?

i just need the most cost-effective solution for internet (broadband). i can't live without it 😉

hehehe, I'm asking all the geeky stuff first, as that's what pops up in my mind first 😀

I'm sure I'll have more questions about all of this later...

Thanks guys!

i have verizon dsl and verizon phone. verizon phone is real expensive for some reason. we pay like 37 dollars a month and we dont even make any non local calls. dsl is 40 dolalrs a month on verizon and im real happy with it. its never out.

another phoine and dsl carrier is pacific bell....im sure att and earthlink provide dsl as well.

If your near ucla, your pretty much stuck with adelphia for cable tv and verizon for phones. In central la/hollywood your going to be with pac bell.

As for internet access, I'd go with dslextreme or mminternet. Earthlink offers 1500/384 for $50 but they just plain suck and you'll be lucky if you can get anything greater than 200k/30k during the day. As for cable modem, I'm not sure how the quality is like. but if you go dsl with either of those ISP's, you will get what you pay for.

Im with dslextreme at 1500/128 and i get 1400k/120k ALL DAY.

Los Angeles is a big place, you might want to specify where you're at. Also, take time to enjoy our WORLD CHAMPION LOS ANGELES LAKERS while you're living here. 😉
