Going to LA in 20 days - 1st time! Fun stuff to do?

LA beaches? Ugh. Overcrowded with bro dudes and dirty water.

LA is not the place for going to the beach. Go to Hawaii or Florida for that.

So cal beaches are the best in the world, or nearly so. They just need warmer water.

OC, Santa Barbara, San Diego, yes. But not LA. Too many people and most of them weird and dirty.

Like going to Waikiki Beach, one of the most overcrowded and dirtiest beaches I've ever been to.

it's kind of cold now isn't it? Prime time to hit the mountains, or take on the extensive night life and diverse restaurants.

or just hit up the getty center, and conclude the day at santa monica pier, 3rd street.

Getty is lame, head down down PCH til you get to New Port or Huntington beaches and have a pint at any of the awesome breweries or bars along the way. Hit up westwood for some Hookha and icecream Sandwiches at Didi Reese (sp.). Maliou for some fish an chips, or some nice dinner while watching the sunset at Dukes. Six flags magic mountain in Valencia.

Honestly, the city of LA is "meh" from a tourist standpoint. Unless you just want to go to clubs, bars and restaurants all day and night of course.

There are lots of surrounding areas and cities that offer actual cool things to do.

eat smoke weed go to concerts/clubs/bars

3 things that LA is great at.

Not sure why you'd want to go to the beach first week of December lol

Yup. Food + bars. that's about it. Good food everywhere and good bars in Santa Monica.

- Have some pizza at "Numero Uno". Not "Uno Pizzeria" from Chicago.

- There are some great museums - Getty and others.

- There are some great restaurants unique to LA (and Beverly Hills etc.)

- I like Knott's Berry Farm.

- Some beach cities have nicer walks.

- See a TV show taped.

dear god don't do this

i can point you in the direction of tv tapings and such.

holy christ alive, seconded. Numero Uno?! are you kidding?

Some of us actually live in LA...what kind of things do you enjoy/are you hoping for? We can help point you in the right directions.

LA is unique in that it is really spread out. Are you renting a car?

lol numero uno...wow that chain still exists?

Lots of cool spots downtown:
-Check out LA Live (yeah it's touristy but who cares) and have a drink at The Ritz Carlton @ LA Live.
-Bars: Seven Grand, Edison
-Food: Wurstkuche, The Lazy Ox Canteen

Definitely hit up the Getty Center and/or Getty Villa (in Malibu). Two completely different experiences, both worth doing.

Disneyland during Xmas time is pretty awesome. Plus they have a new show at California Adventure that is pretty great.

Second the poster who mentioned Mastro's. Fantastic steakhouse.

Old Town Pasadena (start and Colorado Blvd & Fair Oaks) during X-mas time is pretty nice also.
